Points A Priority For The Tangerines!
It’s a very important match for Wetherby Athletic this weekend as we host Brighouse Old Boys at The Ings. The match has a 2:30 pm kick-off time and looking at the weather app, it appears that light cloud will be accompanying us!
With Brighouse directly above us, by three points, it is extremely important that Mark Forster’s team get the win on Saturday. Not only will it be our first league win in nine attempts. But it will also keep us in touch with a whole host of teams around us!
A look at the form guide coming into this match shows that the two teams are completely even over the past five games.
Brighouse have played five matches on the road and have drawn twice and lost three times. In the process of gaining these two points, they have scored three times and conceded nine. Hopefully we can add to this amount by the stroke of 5pm. Their last away match saw them beaten 4-2 by Field AFC.

Our record against the Old Boys isn’t bad! Since 1997, we have played each other 10 times with Wetherby winning 6 times and Brighouse taken the honour 4 times. Within these 10 games, we have scored and conceded 17 goals apiece!
Mark will still be without Joe Garside, but as Max Landau impressed in that position in the excellent 10-0 rout of Monk Fryston as the weekend, Max may well start at that position again. A look at the FA website shows a clean bill of health, suspension wise, for both teams.
The referee for this game will be Mr Umar Ahmed. Mr Ahmed will be assisted by Mr Martin Ohr and Ms Martha Ohr. We hope that the officials have a pleasant time whilst they are at The Ings.
