Catch Up On The Scores Around The League.

Whilst cup action was filling our agenda on Saturday, there were four league ties that went ahead. These games produced 13 goals, whilst meant an average of 3.25 goals per game or 1.625 per team.

Leeds City kept tabs on the leading pack with a solid 2-0 win over Hunslet Club. Goalscorers are unknown at present. The win not only keeps Leeds’s unbeaten start intact, but it now puts them just four points behind leaders Carlton Athletic.

Shelley moved into 9th place in the league with a good 2-1 win over newcomers Ilkley Town at Ben Rhydding Sports Club. Shelley’s goals both came from Aaran Nicolson, but they did it the hard way when they were reduced to ten men following the dismissal of Joe Evans after receiving two yellow cards. Ilkley’s scorer is unknown at present.

Celebrating a much needed win this weekend was Oxenhope Recreation who overcame the challenge of Headingley 3-2. Oxenhope’s scorers were Anthony Cox, Gareth Ritson and an own goal, whilst Headingley had Ashley Austin to thank for their two goals. The three points lifts Recreation up into 13th place.

The final match saw our opponents this coming weekend Brighouse Old Boys lose 2-1 at home to Robin Hood Athletic. Robin Hood scored through Scott Murgatroyd and Joe Ritson whilst Brighouse’s reply came from substitute Elliott Fris.
