PREVIEW v Republica Internationale

League Action Returns For The Ladies.

Sunday afternoon football returns to The Ings as the ladies host Republica Internationale in this West Riding County FA League 1 match. The game has a 2pm kick-off time and a look at the weather shows that it should be a decent day for football!

This match is sponsored by Kazia Knight. Kazia is Chairwomen of Friends Of Sandringham Park. Wetherby Athletic Ladies FC would like to thank Kazia for her kind match sponsorship.

Last weekend saw the Ladies put up a spirited display against Tingley Athletic Ladies in the West Riding County League cup. However, despite some great football, Tingley’s experience won out and they progressed into the next round with a 5-1 scoreline.

This however has not dented the ladies ambition or confidence and they will be looking to get all three points at Republica’s expense.

Our opponents are currently in 6th place in the league and have only enjoyed a win when they beat Tyersal FC ladies 8-2 at home. On the road, they have been beaten 3-0 by Tingley Athletic FC Ladies Reserves, hopefully we will keep that losing streak going for them!

A win for Wetherby could see them go second, whilst a defeat could see them drop into seventh place.

Both teams appear to have a good squad to choose from, although Wetherby may be without the services of Lucy Crann who had to be substituted in the cup defeat due to an injury. They are also be waiting to see if goalkeeper Katy Poulter has recovered from her injury and will be able to take her place between the sticks.

The referee for this match will be Mr Imran Pandor. We hope that Mr Pandor has a pleasant time whilst he is at The Ings.

Please come down and cheer the laddies on as they aim to grab one of the top spots in the league. The Wetherby Sports Association bar will be open and serving a wide range of beverages for your enjoyment both before and after the match.
